Maritime Business Management
The Maritime Business Management Department, established on February 12, 2014, aims to develop business and management skills in the maritime sector. This department focuses on training professionals who will take on leadership roles in the maritime industry. Students receive comprehensive education in areas such as maritime businesses, port management, marine transportation, and marine insurance. By leveraging the advantages of a maritime-themed university, the department also provides students with opportunities to gain practical experience and expertise in the industry.
WHY SHOULD YOU CHOOSE THE MARITIME BUSINESS MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT?
Currently, approximately 104,000 ships of 500 gross tons and above navigate the world’s seas, employing at least one million university graduates directly on board. The estimated asset value of this maritime transport fleet is around 1.5 trillion dollars. Furthermore, maritime transport accounts for at least 80% of global trade volume, while the total revenue from freight and ship chartering alone is approximately 400 billion dollars annually.
Alongside this well-established sector, there is also a significant need for employment investment in land-based maritime businesses. Companies providing services to the industry—such as maritime enterprises, freight forwarders, brokers, port operators, provisioning services, and ship servicing—require not only maritime knowledge but also economic expertise. Additionally, there is a growing demand and trend in academia for professionals in this field. The industry increasingly needs well-trained, competent, and educated leaders.
